Title says it all. I'll be getting my money on wednesday, it's about 500 bucks because my employer owes me a couple of weeks. Getting a shitload of cash means getting a new console, I've been thinking about a wii, or a psp... or a ds.
I'm even thinking about getting a classic console, (all i have in that field is an NES, so an SNES would be fine, or maybe an atari? Sega Genesis?). Finally, there's the 360, which sounds cool too.. but i still don't know.
by the way I already have a PS3 (back home), a PS2 and a Gamecube, so don't mention those.
I will actually take all your comments in consideration.

Why spend your money on consoles when you can spend it on bud? ;)
Seriously though, I reckon you should rig out your PC. If you really want a console then I say choose the 360.

i have this gut feeling that a handheld is the way for you to go right now. if you get a PSP, most of those classic consoles you want aren't even an issue anymore with Homebrew, not to mention the PSP has some pretty badass games out at the moment.
the DS is a solid way to go too, i just dont know what kind of games to start you off with. my advice, if you get a DS... do everything within your power to obtain an R4. look it up on google. if you can get one, you'll have any DS game you want free to download in seconds. its a must have before getting a DS. otherwise, i'd say PSP.
i just have a feeling about handhelds...

you could jus buy more games for ur otha consoles but i would request u get a wii the xbox 360 and ps3 have sum of the same games

I don't play games on my pc...because i'm a mac user... (you can start throwing the macfag jokes now).
I've been giving a serious thought on the wii, the dude at the local store told me they were receiving a shipment on friday, i don't know if that's true though, but it got my hopes up because i know how hard it is to get those sexy bitches.
Stealth's post really made me think abut getting a psp though, they just got smaller and i agree that the games are pretty decent. Also, i could really use a handheld, since i don't have any.
But, i shouldn't get my hopes up too soon, after all, i still don't have the money with me.

I'd recommend buying a handheld system. Seriously, its nice having a handheld system(especially if you don't own a MP3 player, I don't know if you do). If you get the DS or PSP it would be a good deal, plus you would have more money left over than buying a Xbox360 or a Wii. Even though you are leaning toward the Wii(besides maybe 3 games) there's nothing great on the console at the moment, while the PSP and DS have a wider selection because they have been out longer.
So bored...

I would go for a handheld as well. I would go for the ds, though I don't own a psp, so I can't say which system has the better selection. If you like rpgs though, get a ds(mind you, most of its selection is from Atlus, and most people don't know about them, but they are excellent rpgs). Or if you're into srpgs(not really my thing, but this system is perfect for that type of game). If you like Mario sidescrollers, or even sidescrollers like Castlevania, then get a ds. The psp has a Castlevania game, but the ds has 2. If you're into puzzle games, the ds owns. If you're into shooters, the only one I know of for the ds is Metroid Prime Hunters, but it's as good as any console shooter in my opinion, and it has a brilliant control scheme.
For fighting games, I really liked Bleach, but the ds has a selection of games from this genre to choose from. For racing, get Mario Kart DS. I think non-kart racers are awful on the ds, but if you get a kart racer, get Mario Kart, it owns. If you like games like Trauma Center, I think the stylus would work better than the wii-mote anyday, but I don't own a wii, so I wouldn't know. If you like sims, Animal Crossing is one of the better sims of all time, but I think most sims on the ds are horrible, so only get that. Harvest Moon DS was bad, and Rune Factory was awful, though I think the new Harvest Moon game coming soon might finally get it right.
But since I own a ds, a ps2 and a ps3, my opinion is pretty one sided, however the ds is an incredible system if you find the right games for it. You have to read reviews for it though, because its games are the best and the worst out of both handhelds. It's a system where developers try different things, and oftenly take risks. So some of the games are great, but there are a lot of bad games too. But if you read reviews and play only the best, it is almost unrivaled in terms of quality(in my opinion).
Life is an rpg, everyone has their own unique role to play.

Well Personaly I hate hate handhelds and firmly belive that PC gamers are the Master-race. If you are going to go for a System i suggest the Xbox 360 personaly. The main selling point for me is the games. It has far more and far better than the other two Behemoths (PS3 Wii) and I think Ben "Yahatze" Crenshaw put it best when he said... "The Xbox 360 Aims more at the Beer Guzzleing Frat Boy demographic and avertizes this as such with a line of big tough mannly games like 'Dead Riseing' and 'Gears of War'." At any rate theres my suggestion.

You do know that was an insult right?....right?.....go meet some beer guzzling frat boys then. Yahtzee has distate for all people, so of course he'd insult every console's fanboys.
To Blink:
Seeing as you have a PS3 already, if you decide to go for the handheld you should probably go with the PSP since it can link to your PS3 and do fancy stuff I have barely any idea about; I get my PSP later this week so I'll learn more then.

Hai guise.
It took me all day to figure out how to downgrade the damn thing to firmware ver 1.5 and i had to buy Liberty City Stories... twice. I'm running some emulators right now, but I really want to install custom firmware... so, now that the console thing is done....
ITT: you telll blink which homebrew version firmware he should get for his psp.
