Murder in our peaceful city?
Reply Quote

Ok guys, I just got this news.  Apparently, there was a stabbing in my neighbourhood which is also Jig's neighbourhood.  Some dude apparently got stabbed and left on a grassy patch of land on 5500 block on Cooney Road.  This is freaky since it's only a 30 second walk from where I live and a minute walk from where Jigsaw lives.  And there isn't alot of these incidents where we live.  We did have that airplane crash into an apartment building but this is something else....This happened during yesterday night or early this morning.
Police are still investigating.

Moar Info I just got:

Marie, who asked that her last name not be published, said she heard a commotion outside her second-storey apartment shortly after 10 p.m. She was watching television, ready to tune into the Bachelor television show.

"My patio door was open, I heard people were arguing, and then I heard more than arguing," she told The Richmond Review. "I knew something was wrong."

Marie, who has lived in the complex for three years, said she heard sounds that made it evident that someone was being hurt and when she went to her window and looked outside, she saw a young man standing over another man who was lying on the ground.

"I went to the window and I saw a guy with a pony tail, he turned around to see if the victim was down, and then he ran to the other side of the building," she said.

The suspect who fled east on foot, through the building's unsecured underground parkade, was wearing a coat with a lot of yellow on it, she said.

The victim was wearing a white shirt, white socks and just one shoe and was still moving when Marie picked up the phone to call 911.

Cpl. Dale Carr, spokesperson for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said that as of 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, the victim's next of kin had not yet been notified.

Carr described the victim as a 24-year-old Richmond man of Filipino descent.

Richmond RCMP received a 911 call shortly after 10 p.m. and when they arrived at the scene, they found a young man in severe distress. He was rushed to hospital, but died about an hour later.

Investigators "have a sense of who he is" but the victim's name is not going to be released until Wednesday at the earliest, Carr said.

The victim was not known to police, and this murder is not believed linked to any other homicide, drugs, or gangs.

Police are also not saying how the man died, but they have recovered a weapon from the scene and will be doing testing to determine if this was the murder weapon.

Marie said it was too dark to pick out the nationalities of the victim and the suspect, but said she thought the suspect was in his 20s based on how quickly he moved.

When she heard the arguing, her television was on, so she couldn't tell what language they were speaking.

She described the suspect as having a pony tail behind his ears, but that his black hair wasn't that long.

Carr said that no arrests have been made.

Investigators have been busy canvassing the residential apartment building in an effort to locate witnesses who may be able to shed light on what happened and who the suspect might be.

They'll also be searching for camera surveillance footage.

Although police have spoken to witnesses, it was still unclear as of Tuesday morning whether this incident involved just two people, or more.

Police have not yet released a description of the suspect, but Carr said he hopes that will be done by Wednesday morning.
