Because Nintendo weren't dumbasses and they didn't want to produce a console that barely anyone was buying anymore. Same goes for the Xbox. The PS2, however, was an exception. People were still buying that sleek black suitcase well after the current generation of consoles were released, hell people are still buying them now.
And haven't these type of threads been outruled, or am I thinking of console war threads?

the only games worth playing were smash bros. melee (now surpassed by brawl), Windwaker (gets a lot of hate for cuteness and sometimes boring sailing, but is still an excellent Zelda experience at heart) the first two metroid primes (which pwn Corruption in everything but control), and Tales of Symphonia (which is getting a sequel. yayz!)

Bolded: I would say content wise it has, but the only thing it was lacking in was gameplay. I don't know about you, but Brawl felt incredibly slow compared to Melee, and why the hell does it take me a half hour to fall to the damned ground?

Nope, CiPrIaNiSoLdIeR, lots of people are talking about the Gamecube being a dead console. (I even replied to another one of them.)

Well DUH people are talking about them, but I wasn't sure if it was against the rules or not, since this very thread has been re-made MILLIONS of times...

From talking to some correspondant for the Nintendo production team, they told me they sensed a lot of disappointment/ discontentment among those who weren't as good as the Kens,Azens, or KDJs. They realized ( and were right) that it was the speed of the game that was hard for the inferior players to keep up with, so they wanted to make it a more publically sellable game ( it's a business, after all). By lessening the gravitational force and getting rid of L-cancelling and wavedashing, it makes it harder for everyone to do the (quick attacks+ recoveries) and keep continuing until they've KO'd the opponet while only putting on 30 damage. Basically, the game is much more arial-based than before ( because of the floatiness), so the techiness of Melee--which is an entirely skill-based aspect of it--is gone. Therefore, it's easier for a lazy spammer to beat a good player.

I hate it when developers always try to make a sequel to a popular game more accomadational to newer players rather than keeping the hardcore fans happy. Who's as dimwitted as to join in on a series when it already is at it's third sequel? Okay, I know that there really is no play along story in Brawl. You fight, you pwn, you winrar. 'Tis all it is besides an overleaked storyline with a bunch of robots opening wormholes to larger pits of black and nothingness.
My point is, if people are having problems playing the game, than get them to get off their lazy asses and have them practice like we did when the very first SSB was released on the N64, rather than adding cheap gimicky techniques (Such as the FS'. I *** hate them with the white hot passion of a supernova, or an ultranova as GAMEA put it awhile ago) and annoying tweaks in the gameplay, such as a slower descent to the ground, just so newbies to the franchise can be happy and the other players who have accomadated to the old style gameplay can get a nice kick in the ass and have to get use to feeling as if they are in zero gravity.
Then again, it's not as if fans are going to ignore the game entirely just because of a few annoying tweaks that give the welcome wagon to new players. After all, we CAN get used to the slightly decreased gravity level, but I can't help but be pissed at the developers for giving me the backstab of having to get used to the gameplay when I've been a paying Nintendo customer for years, while others just getting in to video games can pick up the controller and get used to it in a second because they don't know any better, and don't know how much improving Brawl can actually do.
One thing that confuses me is how the decreased gravity level is suppose to help, because I find most new players to the SSB series become very accomadated the the B up attack, which leaves you helpless as you glide down towards the ground slowly, hoping that nobody decides to catapult you off of the stage (For most characters anyways. Characters like Sonic can still attack after using the B up attack, but to a certain extent).

i don't mind the gravity so much as the final smashes. those are just bullcrap. especially in all-star mode. imagine this: you kick total ass on the first 36 characters. you get to olimar, and actually have 0% health. you're about to win when HE gets the smash ball. and kills you with the a move that damages you, and gives you no chance to miss his ship as he comes down and knocks you out. they're also unbalanced. Why do Pit and Kirby get moves that are pretty much instant death for everyone, and Meta-knight, who's about the same level, have an easily avoidable attack meant for one person?
