Catholicism changed the bible? Excuse me, but the bible was written by many different people, contains multiple contradictions and has been translated so many times, I find if laughable you people take this as a foundation for your religion. How can you believe in a book like this? The Qu'ran was written by ONE man through God and is always read in it's original form, at least that could be taken as a credible source. The bible however, c'mon! LOL, baptist is only a way to be "saved"? C'mon, baptising is accepting God - how is that in any way showing you need to be "saved"? Again, communion, the last supper? When Jesus broke the bread and said "This is my body, broken for you, do this in memory of me (something along those lines)", do you think he was saying it for shits and giggles? Are you actually a christian, cause I don't understand your religion if you don't have a beleif in these things (baptism, communion, sacraments, etc). Like I've said so many times, the more you pick holes in other religions, the more it seems to me like you're just afraid incase your's isn't the "right" one. The oldest translation is the king james, the closest we have to the original bible. beyond that any other translation is a manipulation of the bible. babtising is SHOWING your acceptance in God. It even says it in the bible. (I can't rememebr the verse, before you ask me for it) It's not needed to be saved. Like wearing a t-shirt with your ffavorite team on it. Ypu can be a fan of that team with or without that shirt. But that shirt shows that you are to others. see my point? The more I think abotu I have participated ij "communion" (note the " ") Yet again it is a symbol of your faith, catholics do it because it will help them be saved and yadi yada... They think about it in the wrongway aswell: "eat of my flesh and drionk of my blood" (not exact but close enough) does not mean think the bread is his flesh and the wine his blood. IT is ro REMEMBER the final supper, and REMEMBER the sacravice he made for man. NOT that if you drink his blood and eat his flesh will you be saved. Eating/drinking is more like...umm...here's another ananlogy: Reader's digest. now notice the digest and how it is used. meaning for you to think about it and understand what it means. Smae thing with the flesh/and blood. The bible is the word of god (remember that Jesus = God) and take that in. Not literealy the bood and flesh. I can't tell you how much faith I put into thinking my religion is right. I'm certian enough that my religion is right that I've put my salvation on it. I'm not afraid that it isn't correct AT ALL. It is a fact, that is why I believe in it - because there is proof. I can't believe in a religion, because I cannot have faith that is is real, since there is no real proof. Actually pablo, your getting catholics and protestants mixed up. Really, show me some scientific FACT, that I cannot poke any holes in...until then...I don't believe it. Trust me I had my doubts in the past and I do SOOOOO much research on eveolution...it doesn't work. Natural selection and all that works but the premise that life started on it's own is impossible. Imagine how easy it is for soemthing to go wrong with the human body, thinka bout how intricate it is the the ATOMIC level. When the priests blesses the wine, it turns it into the blood of Jesus. When he blesses the host, it turns it into the body of Jesus. (of course, I do NOT believe this, I am simply taking the view of catholics, since that's what I know most about .) I choose scientific facts, you choose faith. How can you deny evolution? IT IS A SYMBOL. I explained what is meant by "eat of my flesh and drink of my blood" You drink the WINE (not "blood") and eat the bread (not "flesh") as a rememberance of jesus, you aren't supposed to think it's actually his flesh and blood. Lets say that 1 specis of squirrel is spkit up because of a river form ing or whatever. one side gets cold the other stays the same. The ones on the cold side will die unless some of them have an accidental mutaction that allows them to live through it. Those are the only one to reproduce, that makes them a new specis. while the ones on the other side remain the same...is this evolution? Partly... (that is what you described as evolution) What you discribed is speciation, and survival of the fittest. Those are both natural happenings and facts. You are right there. But people forget how the first animals got here. How did random chemicals some how form a 1 cell organism that is soo complex the human mind can't understand everything that happens in it. How do random atoms and compunds form protein pump, and DNA that can make protiens? Go even farther into the animals to humans. How can intelegent thought and the ability to think on our own be formed by random chemicals forming animals. Evolution thinks that animals started like that, without it evolution would exist. How can we cme from apes and apes form early mamals from one celled creatures? Prve that.. (no one has ever proven it) then I might thinka bout your claims. When people talk about adaptation they make it sound like they are doing it on purpose...like in my squirrel example. Do the squirrels notice it's cold and try to stay warm or does and random mutation allow some to live? Speciation won't happen through only 1 mating unless, they are in a situation like my squirrels (I call them Pablo's squirrels, they are soo cute. =p) They don't just randomly occur. Prove to me that the random chemicals in your so-called "proto-earth" can make a cell capible of life without any outside help. prove me that. You believe God created the Earth and all of pablo's squirrels in 7 days, you LITERALLY believe that... yet you take another part of the bible - communion, as just a symbol? How do you differentiate what to take as symbolism and what to take literally? It seems to me as if you just decide "Nah, I don't really believe that, it's just symbolism" and "Thats cool, I think I'll take that literally." Why do you think some parts are just symbolism, but others aren't? They evolve to survive. If they cannot evolve quick enough, they die. The changes Earth goes through, are very slow, and allow enough time for species to evolve, just slightly to survive whatever the changes are that happens. Take the ice age for example, do you think all those millions of species just died out? No, they evolved to survive. It's not like they go "brrr, it's chilly out here, lets evolve." I don't know all the exact scientific facts, but my understanding of it is their cells, tissue, DNA etc all notice the slight change in temperature. As thousands of years pass, their DNA mutates with each generation of offspring to adapt to the changes. Other times, a mutation randomly occurs, creating different species (of course this takes thousands and thousands of years). That's my understand of it. Well, I can't prove that to you pablo. I have a basic understanding of this (just barely ), so I can't give any real scientific evidence about this.    Report
