There's a slight problem with your theory of Mexicans having many children. (Funny I should be the LAST one telling you this since I, myself, am half mexican and am the youngest of 5 kids).  Anyway, the trend for Hispanic families now is to have LESS children.  On average, the number of children that Hispanic families are having went from an average of 6(I believe in 2001) to 3 (I believe the date for this was 2004 or 2005).  Just a little tidbit I picked up in a Sociology class/book.  It's because.....ah nevermind, if you really wanna know the reason for it, I'll explain myself further.

Sure, I want to learn more about it so if you please elaborate on it I'll gladly appreciate it. Also, I didn't mean to say that hispanics have around a dozen children. I know that is not the case. I went about it the wrong way, and tried to justify a fallacy with another.

Re: Poll: Mexicans
Alright, since I was asked(nicely I might add) I'll elaborate on what I said.  Like I was saying, the average number of children for a hispanic family was 6(2001, I think) and dropped to 3(in 2004 or 2005).  The reason being was because the change in the female hispanic population.  More women are seeking higher education, so instead of staying at home and being a stay at home mom, they're going out and getting college degrees.  With that, comes the other reason that more women are getting into the work force.  More women are going out and working versus letting their husbands be the sole person working to support a family.  While it may seem like it to you and I, when we observe a "large" hispanic family, we are more than likely observing an older woman(meaning an older generations).  This means that the newer generations, if trends continue, will probably average around the same number of children and we(meaning you and I) may see less "large" hispanic families.  I know a lot of what I said sounds like feminism but....I just report what I know.  That's just how things are.  And if I saved my book I could find more info but I don't think I did......

Thank you, and yes I have seen that happening in my surroundings as well. Even if they don't have a degree, I see more women going into the work force as opposed to staying at home and being a stay at home mom. I speculate this change may be in part due to having more opportunities available to them as compared to what they (or their mothers) were used to before coming to the U.S. Also, I think we (hispanic males and females) are more conscious about safe sex now. There are so many ways to prevent an unwanted pregnancy that we are aware of which older generations didn't have access to or were not informed about. Overall, I would say that moving into the U.S. affects us much more than people would like to believe. We become more "Americanized" and have to be willing to adapt to the lifestyles of the U.S.

Re: Poll: Mexicans
what kind of an answer is that? Kill them as they come over the border? thats bull$hit. they're just trying to provide for their families by finding opportunities north of their homeland. just my .02, but they are humans and deserve a chance to prosper just like any one else in this country.
