Damn that was a crazy episode. I was just left Dumb founded, shocked, and begging for more. So, I know you probably didnt see it tonight, but for when you'll do...I have a few questions/statements.
1. Ben's Flash Forward
I am having a little trouble seeing why they showed us what they did, in the Flash Forward. Why is it relevant? What we found out was that Nadia, the girl Sayid help escape in season 1 and his future wife apparently, was killed. Other than that there was Ben Confronting Charles Widmore saying that he was going to kill his daughter Penny.
One thing stuck out from their conversation. Charles said that the Island was once his and will be again. I'm thinking maybe Charles was one of the original founders of Darma. You know, the Hanzo foundation. It is a possibility...
2. The "Doctor"
So a guy washes up on shore and Danny says he is the ship's Doctor. I personally Don't remember the guys face who treated Desmond in that one episode a while back, so I couldn't confirm it myself. Then, they ask the Boat what happened, and they say the doctor is fine.... So as I see it this means one of two things. They guy who washed up really isn't the doctor or they are using some sort of code. I'm still really confused about the whole thing. For all we know it can be the time difference.
3. The Raid
Well there really isn't much to discuss. People died. Alex was killed. Then Ben summoned the Smoke Monster and it obliterated almost all of them. Weird. I hope we find out what the smoke monster is soon.
That is pretty much all I got...

Sorry for the late responce, been very busy.
Finally was able to watch the episode and I totally agree, a great episode indeed.
1: I believe that Ben's flash forward was made to serve three purposes. The fist purpose is to connect the storyline. Since the third season finale they have been showing flash forwards almost every episode(if not every episode). However they have not been in order. This episode is the connection point we needed to understand Sayid's flashback. Now we know why Sayid is working for Ben. The second purpose is what you've already mentioned, and I agree with you. That Charles Widmore is the person who founded the Darma initiative. I will say the thirdd purpose at the end because I feel that its just a theory, and should be expressed last.
2: I did not recognize him at first glance without his glasses, however that is the doctor from Desmond's episode. I believe it has to do with time difference, and I'll elaborate on this in a moment.
3. Those people are sick in the head. They killed so many people to get to Ben, and they failed at that also. I felt terrible when Alex was shot, and Michael Emerson(Ben) is such a great actor, you could really feel his emotions. It was sick(this time meaning cool) when Ben called upon the smoke monster and it beat the hell out of the army dudes(they deserved it though). I would really like to see some flashbacks of Ben's life not on the island.
Theory: This is what I think the third purpose of his flash forward was... To increase the possible time difference between the island and the rest of the world. Okay, the doctor is alive on the boat, but dead on the island. Basically what will happen in the real world, has already taken place on the island. I believe thats why Ben asked what year it was... Also, maybe certain people(like Desmond) are affected negatively by time travel and thats why when he left the island, he started traveling back and forth between the current time and the past... Although, thats just my theory to explain events that have taken place...

Is it me, or have you guy's missed the part where they kill ben's daughter? I don't recall here name, and I had trouble picking that out of what you were saying. So, forgive me if I'm wrong about that.
But I did like that Ben tried to do his usual "reverse Phycology. He kept thelling them to go on ahead and shoot her, and with out any hesitation or waiting...they killed her. I enjoyed that chance to see the more human side of Ben, it was a great change of pace nad it looks like it's going to progress into a good storyline.
btw, I've read through this thread after every show. I like seing what you guys are talking baout. You normally beat me to any input I have. =]

1. That makes sense, I completely forgot about Sayids Flash Forward. That is how Sayid started working for Ben. OK I am no longer confused about Ben's Flash Back...
2. All right, I'll have to re-watch that episode and confirm for my self. I believe you , but I'd like a visual confirmation. The whole time difference finds a way to get even more confusing. In the episode were Daniel has the rocket shot at the island, It made it seem like there was a little over an hour time difference. But surely between the time they found the body, got the device working and set the message the doctor would have all ready died on the boat...I dont know if that made sense. Hopefully it did.
3. Alex's Death was heart breaking. I literally gasped. I didn't think they were actually going to do it.
Ben's reaction was amazing. Just buy his facial expression, you can tell exactly what he was thinking. Man, the on time his little mind games fail...And then just Thinking about the last thing Alex heard from her father. "She means nothing to me" sad...The smoke monster thing was pretty cool though. I hope we here more from it this season.

Probably not this season. We only have like 5 episodes left in the season due to the strike. Maybe you can get through the first three seasons in a month then you can catch the finally at the end of May.

I don't know... Its possible... I bought the first season DVD during summer 07, and watched every episode in three days. I know, no life... In my defense I had never seen season 1 before and the episodes were that interesting in my opinion. Anyway, Lost is on tonight... Alright, yeah...

have to say this weeks episode was extremely well done. It connected
Kate's flashback with Jack's flash. Kate's being first, this episode's
flashback being second, and Jack's first season 3 flashback coming in
last.
Now we have more questions to ask though. Such as...
Whats
up with Jack's father? He appeared in Jack's flashback and on the
island with Claire. Could it be the smoke monster or really him? And
why is he there?
What's Juliet's destiny now that we know she does not end up with Jack?
Is the island really where you go when you die?(This is more of a theory I've been thinking of)
Also
what Rose said to bernard is a good point. People usually get better on
the island, did Jack do something to upset the island?
Plus it looks like next week we finally get to meet Jacob. Woot!

Sorry. I didn't see your post till just now. On to business...
I agree that last week's episode was well structured, for all the reasons you mentioned. The only thing I was upset about was that it was confirmed that Danielle was dead. I was very said to see that.
1. Jacks Father is probably the most confusing thing on the island aside from the smoke monster and Jacob. I have heard do many rumors about him. I don't believe any of them, but I guess it is worth mentioning. Theory #1. I heard that Jacks father never died in Australia. They said that he faked his death and was actually just heavily sedated inside the coffin. He knew that the plane was supposed to crash on the island. The only proof supporting that theory was that they never did find his body. all jack found was his coffin Theory # 2. This theory pretty much ties into the first theory only they said in that Jacks dad was part of The Darma Initiative. They said the plane was supposed to actually land on the island, that is why the others were making a runway. But Desmond forgot to to press the button and instead of landing it just went down. SO yeah...It is kind of out there. anyway, Why he is there? Who knows. Maybe it is the Island trying to inform Jack that he is Claire's half brother...
2. I thought the very same thing when I saw it was Kate in the shower. I was sure it was going to be Juliette. I personally think she is going to die. Maybe not this season but by next season for sure.
3. Interesting....People go to the island to die. Would you kindly elaborate?
4. I don't what tho think of the islands ability to heal people. Let us bring forward the facts.
- The island healed Locke's legs and now he can walk.
- The island healed Rose and now she is (Cancer?) free.
- The island allowed Jack to get appendicitis
- The island allowed Ben to get a tumor on his spine
- The island does not allow babies to grow inside the womb
So, I'm still confused. The only similarities I see is that the people that came to the island sick are healed and the leader figures are the ones that get sick.
5. I can not wait to figure out what the smoke monster is and who Jacob is. I am dying to know.

I read a theory awhile back that Jacob is Jack's dad.
I didn't give it much notice back then, but with the recent developments, I'm intrigued.
By the by Midnite, you mentioned "but by next season for sure". Wasn't this supposed to be Lost's final season?

No after this season they got two more. The producers said Lost would run for six seasons.
And I heard about the Jacks Father being Jacob theory as well. There is this picture from the first episode of season 4 where it clearly shows Jack's dad sitting in a rocking chair inside Jacobs cabin. That is where that theory came from.

Its basically that people on the Island frequently see people from their past that have died. So wouldn't it be somewhat logical to say that spirits of the dead reside on that Island, and its some sort of a half way point between life and death(maybe before you go to heaven). Anyway its stupid so it doesn't even matter...

Sort of like a limbo thing...Hmm
Last weeks episode was yet another great one. It answered a few questions and left us to ponder with many new ones...
1. So, Emily is Locke's mom...Do you think it is actually the same lady that led Locke to his father? or do you think the writers only wanted us to believe that at the time? Also there are a lot of people who think that Locke and Ben are half brothers. Their reasoning is that in Ben's flash back episode from season 3 in which his mom dies giving birth to Ben the moms name was Emily . Also Ben's mom looked more like the young Emily then then the Emily from Locke's flash back in season 1.

2. Horace, the guy who was chopping down the trees in the forest is also the guy that got Ben's dad the job on the island right? That is all I wanted to know.
3. Richard seems to be every where. He just pops in out of nowhere. Some people think that he is Locke's dad. Their reasoning for that theory is that the mom tells Emily that he is 20 years older or something like that. Umm... Another thing What was with the visit he had with a young Locke? He asked which Item belonged to him and then got annoyed when John choose the knife. I hope that scene is explained this season.
4. The Time difference between the island and the rest of the world seems to change all the time. They got the morse code some time in the afternoon, and the doctor was still there. Then later that night they slit his throat and threw him over board. So based on that the island is obviously ahead a couple of hours...
5. Moving the Island? I think it would be quite the task to move it physically so I think thye might be talking about movieng the island through time...Thoughts?
Ok, this Thursday is the beginning part of the season finale. The there will be a break and the following week they will show the last two hours of the finale. So, hopefully we get a few answers by the time the season ends.
