Honestly I am not surprised.I wouldn't exspect them to.The whole thing about "adult stuations" I mentioned.Try checking a public library.

There is a huge list of his books that are related to the Dark Tower series. They have connected storylines,but mostly in small ways. A couple are largely connected,like a bonus story. You would not have to read them to get the Dark Tower series at all,they are just there for fans who want to go deeper. There is a list in the front of the DT series books,or I can list them here if you want.
