A Pastor is there to help you understand the word of God. The catholics believe that preists can talk to got directly, on a one on one basis, where they think that the normal catholic can't talk to god. Peter was the first pope A Christian pope. In the way it was intended. Yet again the Catholic Church believes that the pope can talk to god one on one like the rest of the hierarchy, wile the normal man cannot.
