I did a damn good job on it but my teacher, didn't like the subject I picked and gave me a poor grade on it. Today, that class, we somehow got on the subject of violent video games. I tried to stay out of it cause I have a strong hatred for that teacher but I couldn't stand it anymore and had to get involved in the discussion. So I'm "discussing" this with my teachers, he doesn't like to admit he argues with his students, and he keeps rejecting my points/arguments. I said something like, I have done research on this topic and I know more about it then you do. Your arguments don't make any sense and they are incredibly ignorant. But I'll save the long ass post to repost what I said and simply say that video games don't cause violence and anytime there is correlation between the two, it's because the person is violent themselves, independent of the game. My life is perfect without your criticism even if I am an ignorant penis.    Report     03-18-2008, 3:03 PM morgukul Joined on 03-18-2008 Re: Videogames I had several arguments with my parents on how video games are bad or good.  My parents, like your dad say that video games cause more violence with today's teenagers.  That statement alone is full of fail.  The average gamer is around the age of 30 so who are they to talk?  Even if someone who is violent does kill somebody it dosen't mean that the video games that they played are at fault.  This is why i hate the media.  They always point their fingers at video games if anything violent happens in a school because of a teenager.  It's like OMFG VIDEO GAMES ARE T3H PLAGUE.  No, no it's not dipshits.  I just got Call of Duty and its a great game but it dosen't mean that I'll think Hitler is alive so I go around killing Germans presuming they're ***.  The whole logic of teenagers becoming more violent because of video games collapses itself because of the massive amounts of epic failure.     Report     03-23-2008, 9:50 PM Valkyr Joined on 09-15-2005 14th Division Office, Seireitei (11th seat) Re: Videogames  I do have to admit that i'm a little bit more desensitized to violence from playing video games. but the only effect this has is that i can sit through gory movies without barfing. keep in mind i have a few minor mental issues that i was born with, so i may react differently. now, any sane person definitely isn't going to go out and kill random people because it was cool on GTA. here's the problem in chronological order: 1. crazy and/or evil person does crazy and/or evil sh*t 2. people ask "why did he do that crazy and/or evil sh*t? surely he wasn't just crazy and/or evil. and it's definitely not a problem that can be solved by just increasing gun control." (seriously, i think we should just cut off the sales of firearms to the general public. then we'll have to settle our problems like mature adults) (with broadswords) 3. jerk *cough*jackthompson*cough* craving media's attention, decides to do a witch hunt, because no, we can't hold people responsible for their own actions. finds popular video game in which you cause some kind of physical pain to a living thing. 4. blames crazy and/or evil sh*t on game, even though he has never played said game and has no account of its actual content or context of the violence. then makes up crap about "rehearsing" the crazy and/or evil sh*t in the game. 5. other people who haven't played game believe this, and won't listen to anyone who's actually played it, even though, according to their beliefs, we'll kill them if they don't. 6. those people talk to their congressman. and you know how it goes from there because we were all forced to watch that "School House Rock" episode at some point in History class. thankfully, nothings been passed yet, and eventually we'll have more gamers who know whats going on in congress.
