I would be more than willing to help you, but my Smash philosophy is one I came through exclusively through reasoning ( as in, I didn't do things by accident, notice it worked, and kept doing it mindlessly)--so I would probably need to speak to you as we fight, in order to explain why I do things and why you should do things. I could talk to you in between games, but most people don't remember most of the details of their matches that well, so I'm not sure you would completely understand some things that might very well be critical.
You really just have to take jumps in logic in order to establish necessary truths in order to process in your mind what is the most logical way, in accordance to those established necessary truths/ principles, to play. Be imaginative.

Smash Bros. is like dodgeball, all you have to remember is to Dodge, Dive, Dip, Duck, and Dodge....well that and when what move will work best when. I've found that SSB is a style game, you have to find what suits your style, you can take advice from someone else and get your ass handed to you in a hat because it's just not the way you play.
The best thing when it comes to getting good at a game is playing around, don't always be so serious and have some fun with it; that's when you figure out what stuff works, though make sure to remember the five D's, I'm serious the best offence is a good defence.

alright well that makes sense. i will just play around with the moves and controls and hopefully be able to beat some of u guys soon...lol...any of u guys that have your wiis and havent already posted ur FC??? POST EM!! actually it is cool the way it is, if all 4 of us add each other, we could have a "4 person ccc brawl"!!! we shall discuss further plans for this later.

I don't have a Wii, I play my older brother's one and he doesn't have the net at his house; though that could change if I move in with him, but I don't think that'll happen. Perhaps I'll steal his Wii some time so I can play.

SSB is a style game, but only because the intelligence of players varies so greatly, causing their ability to understand the game to vary, causing their preferred style of play to vary also. I wouldn't say it's a style game in implying that there is, realistically, no one necessarily best way to play, because having certain traits in the game help you win in most modes more than other, and certain characters have higher amounts of those traits. For instance, I can't prove to you that speed is realistically more useful that power; however, because your attacks must connect first before putting on damage, eventually causing them to travel far enough to get K'Od after certain attacks, you are more likely going to put on 25 damage by doing two quick, weaker attacks, running away, and waiting to do it again, and then doing it again than you are constantly try to use your powerful attacks most of which take enough time to charge to be an inconvenience against the other given style of play. That's why you will see Fox almost always beat Ganondorf, often even when an inferior player is controlling him. Ganondorf's moves are cheaply powerful, but Fox's weak attacks can be performed and can connect with ease, because they are lighting quick.
You tweak your style in accordance to your understanding of the game. And there are levels of understanding, making one style very possibly necessarily less or more productive than another.

and about the disconnection thing. i looked it up online and it is bc too many ppl are playing online right now and hey dont have servers big enough. let the ppl get tired of wifi and then give it a try.
