Yeah the ending really pissed me off, when Eli Roth does the movie maybe he will make an actual ending. i think that when writers end their book like that they are too lazy to come up with an ending.

Hmm Cell is one of his newer books isnt it?It seems like it would be everywhere...

if you liked the movie, then i highly suggest the book. its one of his best. i would put it up there with the dark tower series and the stand.
i wonder if they ever make a DT movie series? that would be so freaking awesome.
|
|
Unfortuneately he hasnt had a movie made for it...I havent even finished the first DT book i couldnt get into it but that was along time ago.Maybe i should get it from my grandmother it would give me something to do.Im so bored right now im playing Diablo 2 again(not that its a bad game just old).
Btw whats The Stand?I havent heard of that book.

Ive read all the series of unfortunate events books I have ( 1-12, theres 13, 13 isnt out here ), so Im going to start reading either The Shining or Misery. I like the movie Misery better than The Shining.
Oh, or Bag of Bones.
The Shining Misery Bag of Bones
Which one should I read..?

tom.. dont even waste your time with bag of bones... its boring, and more of a love story, rather than a ghost story like its made out to be.
i highly suggest misery first, then the shining. both EXCELLENT books, but misery offers more of that gooey and sloppy violence, where as the shining is mostly jack going nuts, and danny seeing ***. its good, but a little on the bland side up until about half way through. you'll love misery more. fyi, neither of them are anything like the movies. same general story, but there is just so much the movies left out.
i also recomend reading It. you know the one. about the clown. horrifiying book. i was 14, and it scared the ever living *** our of me. lol. its so good though. and later on, go for firestarter. really good story. about a girl with pyrokenisis! how cool is that? and of course Carrie. his first published novel, and it kicks ass.
if you want the big stuff, read the stand. the biggest book Stephen king has written, but probably one of the best too. the story is just so intence. you should be reading this too liquid, its quite the story. about a viral outbreak, and over 99.9 percent of the world dies... afterward theres a huge war between the good and evil remaining people, and it has SK's best villian ever, randall flagg. hes in the DT books if you read them. the crimson king i believe.
anyways... i could go on about all of the great SK books i've read, but i'll cut is short here. if you want to know about some good books from him though, talk to me. i've read near all of his work.

IT might be to complicated to understand everything but you will definently get the thrills out of it, but maybe not all the sutilies (sp?). Salem's Lot is a very good book about vampires. as a cool little extra if you read his books in order you will find characters from other stories in them. for example in the book Needful Things (exellent book by the way) it will make mention of Cujo (i think it was the sherrif who talking about the lady who was attacked by the rabid st. bernard in this book) because a lot of his books take place in the same towns. kinda of a cool little bonus.
a few other good books from him are "The Running Man" not horror but exellent and way different than the movie and the long walk or something where these people walk for like 5 days straight and this one that reminede me of Columbine and this one where this kid meets an ex- n a z i. you can read all 4 in one book, i forget what the book is called though, oh, and the Shawshank reemtion was great too. but seriously read them in order.

thats the bachman books... because he wrote running man, and the others there under the pysdonymn richard bachman. the long walk is my fav.
and i hated cujo... it was so boring, and stupid. the movie was no better... and its not always in order... like, the character ted brautigan from hearts in atlantis is from the world of the dark tower, but is never mentioned unitl the sixth book.
whats best though, is that the majority of his books have some sort of connection to the dark tower. which is by far his greatest work ever... lol, even though i havent gotten to the last book yet. whatever, my mom says the ending is pretty good.
im glad theres another stevie fan around here... there arent enough to get good discussions with. imo, rita haysworth and the shawshank redemtpion is one of his best, along side green mile.
among my favs from him are : secret garden secret window, library poilce man, carrie, firestarter, green mile, hearts in atlantis, the stand, the body,It, shawshank, all DT (gunslinger specifically), christine, dead zone, dark half, and so far cell is great too. there are a bunch from him i dont like, like tommyknockers, insomia, from a buick8, the talisman (good over all, but hard to comeback to), and that langileries one... so dumb... oh yea! and the girl who loved tom gordon sucked monkey balls!
the rest are in a grey zone, or i just havent read... seriously thought, there is less than like 6 or so i havent. great author.

i personally liked Insomnia a little bit out there but good, and the body was good too. the leech part made me shudder, i haven't read a lot of his books but i plan too, i inheirited a lot from my grandma when she dies but have only read like 5 of them. another author i hear is very good is Anne Rice, i'm going to start the witch series shortly. and i read the back of the tom gordon book and it sounded kinda corny. also if you finish all of king's books Konntz has a few really good ones, and the rest are a above average but not great.
i am going to try to spend more time in the Book forum, i tend to forget about it.

You should read anne rice's Vampire Chronicles before any of her other stuff.I havent read anything else by her(VC is like 10 books long maybe more)but she isnt writing about vampires and stuff anymore. She turned all god like and only writes stuff about god..she turned boring basically. Her vampire chronicles are awesome though.Im just over half way through them (book 7 i think) and its a really good series.

desperation is very good. if you liked that film, then you will really like the book. after the book you can read the regulators, its a bachman book, and its great. look for all the similarities in the two stories when you read them.
